July Publishing Update

It’s been a while, but I’m back! And I return with a plan for making good on my promises of two months prior. Let’s get into it.

All covers completed

Zhivko Zhelev, the artist for 2019 series of book re-releases, has completed the 2025 cover series. I’ll be revealing those on this blog one at a time as the books are released.

Website redesign in the works

Now that the covers are done, Zhivko will be turning his attention to the design of this website. Expect a complete revamp in the not-too-distant future.

Re-release schedule

With all other hurdles out of the way, I’m able to turn my attention to the re-releases. The plan for each book is to: re-read it, then update the commentary, then update the interior and re-release on Amazon.

The (very rough) plan right now is to attempt to release one book a month each remaining month this year. This schedule, if it holds, will look like this:

  • July: Voyage Embarkation
  • August: Insomnium
  • September: Alterra
  • October: Schrödinger’s City
  • November: Sacra Veritas
  • December: Transmutations

The hardest of these will be Voyage, because it’s my longest novel, and only three and a half weeks remain in July. However, if I am able to achieve that, it will bode well for me getting the rest out on time, if not also perhaps slipping in Shipwright and The Other.

The one brand new publication in the bunch, When the Gods Wish to Punish, will definitely not be coming out this year. You can count on that sometime in 2026.

Voyage and Insomnium updates semi-finalized

As I’ve mentioned previously, these re-released editions will be different only in terms of additional front- and back-matter. I have no plans (yet) to revise or rewrite any of the main text, and I expect not to.

For Voyage, I’ve done enough work with the text already to have an idea of what I want to add. This book already has extensive front- and back-matter. The 2019 edition contained: an introduction in the front, and a series history, chapter commentary, and full series outline in the back. When I first returned to this novel, I wondered if I would want to add anything at all.

However, I think that I do. I’ll be expanding the chapter commentary to include both my 2019 and 2025 thoughts on each section. In 2019, I was primarily focused on providing the context that would help make the subsequent series outline section make sense—I was explaining how all the little details in each chapter would have eventually connected to the larger narrative. I think now, more than decade on from the book’s publication, I have a lot more to say about how Voyage fits into the rest of my work, with a particular emphasis on what it provides the foundation for.

For Insomnium, I plan to add both an introduction and a chapter summary section, as I neglected to write either in 2019. As I recall, I didn’t even re-read it, because I wanted to focus my attention on The Other, which was at that time being drafted. This will give my two semi-episodic novels a nice parallel structure in terms of their front- and back-matter.

Plan status:

  • Finish my BS comp sci degree
  • Website upgrade
  • Re-release Voyage Embarkation
  • Re-release Insomnium
  • Re-release Alterra
  • Re-release Schrödinger’s City
  • Release Sacra Veritas (Our Algorithm re-released and Beati Qui for the first time)
  • Re-release Transmutations
  • Re-release The Shipwright and Other Stories
  • Re-release The Other
  • Re-release Intersection Thirteen
  • Re-release Chronicles of Ytria
  • Release When the Gods Wish to Punish for the first time
  • Write and publish The Many and the Few
  • Write and publish Artifice
